People are being warned not to fall victim to a scam text message falsely claiming to be a Traffic Infringement Notice from the Land Transport Authority.
The LTA says the fraudulent message provides a notice number and includes a suspicious link, which members of the public are being urged not to open.
LTA Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa says the message is not legitimate and the Authority does not issue Traffic Infringement Notices through unofficial or suspicious links.
He says people should be particularly cautious of unsolicited messages that demand immediate payment or require payment within a specified timeframe.
The LTA is advising anyone who receives such a message not to click on the link, reply to the sender or engage with the message in any way.
People are also encouraged to verify any information relating to traffic infringements directly with the LTA through its official channels.
The Authority says anyone who receives a suspicious message claiming to be from the LTA should report it to the relevant authorities.
Rokosawa says protecting the safety and security of LTA customers remains a priority and is urging the public to remain vigilant to prevent fraud.
The LTA is reminding the public to rely only on verified and official channels for information relating to traffic infringements and payments.
