The Suva Magistrates Court has granted bail to lawyers Samuela Heritage and Alvin Singh, who are facing allegations involving false Tax Compliance Certificates used to obtain their 2026 Practising Certificates.
Accountant Fareen Nisha will have to wait until tomorrow to have her surety and passport arrangements finalised.
The three appeared before Suva Magistrate Joseph Daurewa this afternoon.
They have been granted $1,000 bail each, with strict conditions, including a stop-departure order.
They are required to report to their nearest Police station every fortnight, starting this Saturday.
They have also been ordered not to interfere with prosecution witnesses, not to reoffend, and not to change their residential addresses without permission.
It is alleged that in February this year, the accounts officer dishonestly altered the Tax Compliance Certificates of the two lawyers, who were employed as legal practitioners at a law firm.
Police allege the documents were altered to help the two lawyers obtain their 2026 Practising Certificates.
It is further alleged that the two lawyers knew the Tax Compliance Certificates were false but submitted them to the Legal Practitioners Unit in Suva to obtain their Practising Certificates.
The three will appear again in court on the 3rd of November to take their plea.
