Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President Zou Jiayi has reaffirmed the bank's long-term commitment to Fiji's development, saying AIIB will remain a reliable partner in building critical infrastructure and supporting the country's journey towards a modern and prosperous future.
Speaking during the traditional welcoming ceremony in the Grand Pacific Hotel this morning, Zou acknowledges the Government of Fiji for its warm hospitality during her first visit to the country in her capacity as President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
She says she is deeply moved by the traditional Fijian welcoming ceremony.

According to Zou, these are not only the values of Fiji but also those of AIIB as a multilateral development bank, as well as the principles of multilateralism.
She stresses that history and the future, as well as tradition and modernisation, should never be seen as separate, saying development can only succeed when it is rooted in a nation's history, culture and identity.
Zou says AIIB is committed to becoming part of Fiji's development agenda, noting that when she arrived at Nadi International Airport she saw a map of Fiji showing airports across many of the country's islands.
She says this highlights the critical role infrastructure plays in connecting communities and supporting Fiji's development.
The AIIB President says the bank builds infrastructure while Fiji continues to build a modern and prosperous nation, adding that both share the common goal of development.
She assures the Government of Fiji that AIIB will remain a reliable development partner as the country continues its development journey.
