More than 200 farmers in the districts of Dogotuki, Udu and Cikobia in Macuata will now have safer and more reliable access to markets following the completion of a new 10-kilometre farm road under the Government's Rural Outer Island Development Programme.

The Nubunisoqosoqo Farm Road in Dogotuki, Macuata, was officially commissioned this week by the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Mosese Bulitavu.

Built at a cost of more than $460,000, the road was constructed in three phases under the Coalition Government's Rural Outer Island (ROI) Development Programme.

The project is expected to improve the transportation of agricultural produce to markets while making it easier for farmers to access essential farming supplies. It will also provide safer and more reliable access between farming areas and the main road network.

The new infrastructure is expected to encourage further agricultural investment and support the growth of small businesses in the area.

Bulitavu says the project reflects the Government's commitment to providing rural communities with the infrastructure needed to improve livelihoods and stimulate economic growth.

He says roads such as the Nubunisoqosoqo Farm Road are pathways to opportunity, connecting farmers to markets, improving access to essential services and creating opportunities for economic growth in rural communities.
