Families in Bua are expected to have safer and easier access to schools, healthcare and other essential services following the opening of the new Bua Suspension Bridge.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, while officiating at the opening ceremony, says the bridge will make travel safer for school children, improve access to hospitals and provide easier access for women and communities living in the area.
He says the bridge was built through contributions of more than $1 million from the people of Bua, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Government.
Rabuka says improving roads, bridges and other infrastructure is about making everyday life easier for Fijians while supporting the country's long-term development.
He says better infrastructure will also help create more opportunities for rural communities by improving access to education, healthcare and other essential services.
The Prime Minister congratulated the people of Bua, the vanua, civil servants and everyone who contributed to making the project a reality.
