TNG seeks further documents in $1.4B Vuda waste-to-energy appeal
The counsel for Next Generation Holdings (Fiji) Pte Limited is requesting further documents in the matter in which the company has appealed the Department of Environment’s decision to reject its proposal for a $1.4 billion waste-to-energy plant at Vuda Point.

The matter was called before the Environment Tribunal, presided over by Magistrate Charles Ratakele, today.

TNG counsel Feizal Haniff and Ministry of Environment counsel Pete Bauleka have respectively filed the appeal and response.

Haniff told Magistrate Ratakele that incomplete documents had been filed and requested that further documents be provided.

Bauleka agreed to provide some of the documents but said not all could be disclosed as some were internal documents.

Haniff requested formal reasons as to why the remaining documents could not be disclosed.

Magistrate Ratakele has given the Department until 27th August to file and serve the documents, along with reasons for the non-disclosure of the other documents.

The matter has been adjourned to 3rd September to check on the documents and for a pre-trial conference.
