Young people who took part in the Nadarivatu Blue-light camp are being encouraged to take the skills and values they learnt back to their homes, schools and communities after completing the week-long programme.
Deputy Divisional Police Commander West, Superintendent of Police Esira Bari says the camp was not only about activities and having fun, but also about helping participants develop into responsible and confident young people.
Bari says participants were taught important values including respect, discipline, responsibility, teamwork, resilience, confidence and leadership.
He says the real value of the camp will be seen in how participants apply these lessons in their everyday lives.
Bari encouraged the young people to practise what they learnt and reminded them that the decisions they make will help shape their future.
He also urged parents to continue supporting their children after the camp by listening to them, asking about their experiences and encouraging them to put the lessons they learnt into practice.
Bari says parents should recognise that their children are returning home with new experiences, skills and lessons that can help them grow.
The camp was organised through Fiji Police Community Policing in partnership with Blue Light Fiji, Blue Light New Zealand and other partners.
