Brighton have bounced back in style after their Carabao Cup disappointment, securing an impressive 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League.

The win means City have now suffered back-to-back league defeats, while Brighton move up to third place on the points table.

Brighton scored the only goal of the match after just 11 minutes when Yasin Ayari took advantage of a poor clearance from City's Matheus Nunes to score from close range.

City had several chances to equalise, but Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen made some important saves to keep his team in front.

Erling Haaland also struggled to get involved as Brighton defended well and limited City's attacking chances.

Brighton had opportunities to score more goals, but failed to make the most of them, however, they held on until the final whistle to secure an important victory.

In other matches, Chelsea defeated Manchester United 2-0, while Bournemouth beat Leeds United by the same scoreline.

Brentford also secured a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Coventry City beat Sunderland 3-1, and Hull City drew 2-all with Ipswich Town.

Meanwhile, Tottenham beat Crystal Palace 2-0, while Aston Villa will face Fulham at 8am.
