Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs Pio Tikoduadua says people have differing views on the Constitution Amendment Bill, and such discussions are healthy before Parliament makes a final decision.
When asked whether he supports concerns raised about the fast-tracking of the constitutional amendment process, Tikoduadua says people are entitled to their own opinions.
He says the proposed constitutional changes remain open for national discussion until Parliament makes a decision.
Tikoduadua says people should be allowed to share their views during the consultation process, as many useful ideas are being raised.
He adds that some people are trying to get ahead of the process, and it is important to allow discussions to continue within the time available.
On the proposed immunity provisions, Tikoduadua says he has been having discussions with the RFMF Commander and the military institution about their views.
He says the RFMF's position is already public, and its contribution is important given its role in Fiji's national security.
Tikoduadua stresses that constitutional reform is a national issue, and people should listen to one another.
When questioned about differences within the coalition government over the proposed amendments, Tikoduadua says the coalition remains united.
He says differing opinions among coalition partners should not be seen as a sign of division, but as part of healthy discussions aimed at producing the best Constitution for Fiji and its people.
