Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill

Tourism Fiji CEO, Brent Hill says almost one week in after the borders reopened, they are happy with where they are and the level of interest in Fiji is amazing.

While talking to the media today, Hill says they are happy to see tourists spread across Fiji to areas such as Denarau, Mamanuca, Taveuni and Pacific Harbour.

Hill says the news of Fiji’s reopening of borders has made headlines around the world with coverage from some leading news outlets.

Hill highlighted that from the 75,000 bookings made for December and January, there are only a small number of cancellations and these are due to the reason that people will have to do home quarantine when they return to their respective countries.

He adds the largest one day influx of tourists is 1,300.

Hill also says that 1,000 businesses have been certified under the Care Fiji Commitment.

The CEO of the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, Fantasha Lockington says they did not think that borders will open until the first quarter of 2022.

Lockington says their focus for 2021 was Survive, Revive and Thrive.
