The Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji Archbishop Peter Loy Chong says he does not mind some people saying that he is mixing religion with politics because the church has a role in politics.

This is after some people started making public comments against Archbishop Chong for mixing religion with politics when he attended the National Federation Party Annual General Meeting as a Chief Guest.

Archbishop Chong says their role is not to decide on policies because they are not politicians but they care for the society and want to ensure that there is a just society.

He says the church and religion should be the moral compass for the society towards a just society and to ensure that developments are sustainable.

Archbishop Chong is also pleading with the government and companies to allow everyone to participate in consultative processes and not just a few chiefs.

He says he had spoken to some people from Votua in Ba and Dawasamu who raised concerns that they were not informed regarding some consultations in their area.
