The Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji is having a community session where they are talking about natural ways of rehabilitating drug users and how this should be done, they are also joining other faith-based organisations in doing this.

This was highlighted by the Sabha President, Dhirendra Nand in an interview with fijivillage News following consultations at the Samabula Shiv Mandir and said drugs is a challenging issue that they are working on with various Ramayan Mandali.

Nand says that they are encouraging Pandits (Priest) to take time out and discuss issues affecting the youths such as drug use, teenage pregnancy, street kids among other issues.

When questioned about what is the Sabha doing about protecting women in their homes from domestic violence, Nand says they have always supported women's empowerment and since their strategic plan has been launched a pillar has been dedicated to women's empowerment.

He says they are doing their best to raise awareness in schools.

The President says to they have plans to open a Girls Counseling Centre in Suva for girls to be able to share issues they might be facing and they have done a little work in this however finance plays a vital role therefore they have submitted this to the state if they can get receive funding to operate this.

He further says to empower women they have a vibrant Nari Sabha (Women Group) that looks after the women wing and they have more than 16 Nari Sabha throughout Fiji who have their programs and counselling sessions.

Meanwhile, to get more people engaged in the running of their respective temples and increasing participation in religious festivities, the Sabha is holding consultations at various temples.
