There is no urgent advisory issued to the people after the Ministry of Health issued an immediate recall notice to all pharmacies and pharmacists of the listed batches of blood pressure medicine, Ray ENAP-10 Enalapril Maleate 10mg tablets and Ray ENAP-5 Enalapril Maleate 5mg tablets, and for the product to be removed immediately from circulation.

The listed batches are Ray ENAP-10 Enalapril Maleate 10mg tablets REBT2301 with the expiry date as 31st January 2026 and Ray ENAP-5 Enalapril Maleate 5mg tablets REAT231 with an expiry date of 31st January 2026.

A letter sent to the pharmacies from the Chief Pharmacist, Ilisabeta Pesamino which has been obtained by fijivillage News says the stated manufacturer for these products is UNILINK PHARMA (P)LTD.

It says recently they received test results for batches of these products that had been sent to the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration Laboratories, and for both batches the average amount or content of Enalapril was below the required standard.

The letter says if you have used this product, or if someone has suffered an adverse event after using this product, you are advised to seek medical advice from a qualified healthcare professional and report the incident to the Medicines Regulatory Authority.

The wholesalers and retailers have been asked to cease the distribution immediately and they need to recall affected stock for disposal.

Many people are concerned why the Ministry of Health has not issued an immediate advisory to the public.
