A flood alert remains in force for the downstream areas of Nayavu along Wainibuka River in Tailevu, Nairukurukuru along Wainimala River in Naitasiri and along the main Rewa River from Navolau village.

A trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the Fiji group.

The associated cloud and rain is expected to affect most parts of the country until later today.

A heavy rain alert remains in place for Fiji.

Expect heavy rain at times and isolated thunderstorms over the greater Suva-Nausori/Tailevu areas, Serua-Namosi, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, southern Bua and Cakaudrove provinces.

Localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

Expect heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms in Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Labasa and Savusavu

The Nadi Weather Office also says people should expect cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms tomorrow.

Please take the necessary precautions and do not venture out in rising flood waters.
