A 15-year-old boy has passed away following an accident in Nadi.

Police say the 15-year-old, along with seven other students, was travelling towards Nadi from Nausori Highlands yesterday afternoon when the driver lost control of the vehicle while descending a hill.

They say the vehicle tumbled on the road, causing all the passengers to be thrown out.

Following the impact, the vehicle then fell down a cliff, estimated to be about 100 metres.

All the passengers were conveyed to Nadi Hospital, where the 15-year-old student was pronounced dead.

Police say three victims are still admitted to hospital in stable condition, while the others, including the driver, were treated and sent home.

Police investigations into the accident are underway.
