Peer Outreach Worker Viliame Vauvau, also known as Willy Gold, will continue his HIV awareness and community outreach programme in the Tavua and Vatukoula corridors tomorrow and Tuesday.
Vauvau says Fiji is facing a national HIV crisis and people should not ignore the growing number of cases.

Vauvau says his goal is to reduce stigma surrounding HIV, improve public awareness, encourage early testing and support people in accessing the health services they need.

Vauvau says people should make time to visit their nearest health facility and get tested, as early diagnosis allows people to access treatment and support services.
He says every second person could be at risk because of factors such as drug abuse and unsafe sexual practices, and is urging everyone to take responsibility for their health.
He says the crisis is happening in Tavua as well, which is why he continues to educate people about HIV prevention, testing and treatment.
Vauvau says as part of his outreach work, he distributes male and female condoms, encourages people to know their HIV status through testing, and accompanies those who are hesitant or uncomfortable to attend HIV testing services on their own.
He also organises community talanoa sessions and works with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to conduct community and home-based HIV testing.
He believes building trust through community engagement is key to improving health outcomes and creating a more informed and supportive community.
He will be in Tavua Town tomorrow around 6pm.
