Fiji Fashion Week Next Generation show emerging designer Priyanka Singh says she is inspired by women who turn up at her Suva hair and make-up shop to get styled for events.

Singh’s collection called ‘Boss Women’ features semi-formal and formal outfits in neutral colours primarily for women.

The designer says she has always been inspired by female artists like Beyonce, Rihanna and other great women like them.

She says stepping into designing is a package deal for her as she is a hair and makeup artist and is also a fitness model.

Singh says she faced a lot of challenges due to her busy schedule where she has to manage classes everyday for eight hours on top of managing her collection.

Singh is studying fashion at APTC and was also the Miss Fiji at the 2018 Fiji Bodybuilding competition.

The NextGeneration Show also featured emerging designers such as Shane Pickering, Temesia Tuimaucia, Ilisoni Narara and Arunesh Sami.

Fiji Fashion Week Managing Director, Ellen Whippy-Knight says without new designers, there is no sustainability in the fashion industry.

Whippy-Knight adds these designers, who take the time and make the investment each year to bring their art to life through heir clothing make sure there is always something new to look forward to.

The next shows will be the Taprobana Boutique Show this Thursday at Garden City Suva while on Saturday, the Oceans Gala Show will be at the European Union Residence and the Resort Luxe Show will be at the Hilton Resort & Spa in Nadi.

All shows begin at 4pm.
