Yat Sen Primary School welcomed a Chinese delegation that spent a week teaching students about the richness of Chinese culture through dance, music, art, and other cultural activities.
ThepPrimary school students today showcased what they learnt within 1 week from the 14 teachers that came from the province of Yunnan Language and Culture College in China. The items included martial arts, painting, music and dances.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Assistant Head Teacher Meli Yabakivou says the cultural event plays an important role in the holistic development of students by helping them understand and appreciate the different cultures represented within the school community.
Yabakivou, who hails from Tailevu, says the school embraces students from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds and believes such programmes promote understanding and respect among students.

He added that the school was fortunate to have the Chinese delegation visit and share their culture and knowledge with the students.
Yabakivou thanked the Chinese Embassy and the parents and guardians of the school for helping the students during this transition.
