Rewa FC is excited for its opening OFC Men’s Champions League match this Sunday as the team has settled well into the Western conditions and is building strong combinations.
Assistant coach Priyant Mannu says the players are excited and focused as they prepare for the opening game, with the team working on key areas to ensure they are ready for the regional competition.
He says the focus during training has been on maintaining composure in both attack and defence, especially when creating and finishing scoring opportunities.
Mannu says the team’s frontline will need to be clinical and make the most of the chances created during matches.
He says Rewa FC is grateful for the support from districts across Fiji as the side represents the country in the OFC Men’s Champions League.
Mannu adds with the tournament being hosted in Fiji, the support shown to the team has been encouraging.
He also expresses his appreciation to the Fiji Under-19 team for playing a friendly match against Rewa, saying the game provided an opportunity for the team to assess combinations among the players.
Mannu says that with a few new inclusions in the squad, the match helped the coaching staff identify areas that need further improvement before the tournament begins.
Rewa FC will open its OFC Men’s Champions League campaign this Sunday against Vanuatu’s Galaxy FC at 3pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
