Vantex Solutions Navua FC have secured their place in the semi-finals of the FMF Inter-District Championship Super Premier Division after playing to a nil-all draw against Khelvin Realtors Lautoka FC at the HFC Bank Stadium.
Both teams produced an entertaining contest, with plenty of skill and determination on display.
Navua and Lautoka created several scoring opportunities, but neither side was able to find the back of the net.
The first half ended nil-all, with both teams stepping up the pressure after the break.
However, both defences remained strong and the score stayed level until the final whistle.
Navua coach Rodeck Singh says he is happy with his players’ performance and the way they followed the game plan.
Singh says the team showed good fighting spirit and worked hard throughout the match.
He says he told his players before the match to make the Navua fans proud, and believes they delivered on that message.
He says the team will return to training and prepare for the semi-final match.
He is also calling on Navua fans to turn up in numbers and support the team.
Meanwhile, the match between Extra Supermarket Labasa FC and Nasinu FC is currently underway.
Dayals Steel Ba FC will meet Pacific Heavy Industries Nadi FC at 5.30pm, and Kells Investment/Global Care Suva FC will take on defending champions Stratum/Lincoln Rewa FC at 7.30pm
The FMF IDC semi-finals will be played on Saturday, with the final scheduled for Sunday.
