Kadavu Rugby continued its impressive build-up to next month's Skipper Cup with another stunning upset, defeating reigning champions, Malolo 17-14 in a thrilling warm-up match today.
The match attracted thousands of viewers as excitement continues to grow around the competition's newest team.
After defeating Suva in their opening warm-up fixture last week, Kadavu backed up that performance with another statement victory, edging Malolo at Lawaqa Park.
The union has also been making history off the field.
Kadavu Rugby is the only rugby union in Fiji led by a woman president, and current Minister for Environment Lynda Tabuya, and under her leadership the team has now recorded victories over two of the country's rugby powerhouses in successive warm-up matches.
The contest lived up to expectations, with both sides displaying skill, physicality and determination in an entertaining encounter.
Kadavu's latest performance has further strengthened belief that they could emerge as one of the surprise packages when the 2026 Skipper Cup season gets underway next month.
Kadavu will face Nadi in round one of the competition in Nadi on the 1st of August.
