FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach Jake White says Fiji is a sleeping giant, with the team having the talent and potential to become a formidable force if players can bring their individual brilliance together as one team.
White says Fijian players continue to excel in overseas competitions, including the Top 14, Japanese League and English Premiership, where they receive individual recognition through awards such as Most Valuable Player and top try-scorer.
However, he says the challenge is bringing those talented players together and ensuring they perform as a collective when representing Fiji.
White says the goal is to bring the same enthusiasm, energy and high level of performance that players show for their overseas clubs into the Fiji jumper.
He believes Fiji has the talent to become a dangerous team when individual skills and abilities are combined with strong teamwork.
White also highlights the importance of mental toughness, confidence and stability as the team continues to improve.
He says the coaching staff are working closely with the players, providing guidance and attention to detail as they prepare for today's match.
White says the team must continue to improve step by step, build confidence, and work together to achieve the desired results.
He believes Fiji can win if the players perform to their potential, remain mentally strong, and translate their individual talent into a united team performance.
Fiji will face Japan this afternoon at 5.50pm in Tokyo.
