Flying Fijians head coach Jake White says his focus is on keeping things simple, building players confidence and improving the team game management ahead of their Test match against Japan this afternoon.
White, who has had only five training sessions with the team, says he wants to provide structure and direction while allowing Fiji players to express their natural skills on the field.
He says coaching some of the best players in the world has been exciting, adding that he believes the team can deliver a strong performance if players apply what they have learnt and go a step further.
White says one of the key areas he wants to improve is Fiji's ability to manage matches, particularly through the decision-making of the half-backs and full-back.
He says Fijian players are naturally inclined to play an expansive style of rugby, but combining that attacking instinct with better game management will help the team control matches and move opponents around the field.
The Flying Fijians will play Japan at 5.50pm today in Tokyo.
