The Nasinu Town Council is urging residents and businesses to stop dumping rubbish into drains, warning that blockages can cause flooding and create unhealthy living conditions during heavy rain.

The Council says its operations team is carrying out drain-cleaning work across different wards in Nasinu, removing rubbish, debris and other materials obstructing water flow.

The Council says blocked drains can lead to flooding, stagnant water, unpleasant odours and unhealthy conditions for families living nearby.

Residents are being reminded that drains are not rubbish bins and should not be used to dispose of household waste, plastics, bottles or grass cuttings.

The Council says while its workers continue clearing drains, residents and businesses must also take responsibility by disposing of their rubbish properly.

The Council stresses that keeping communities clean and safe is everyone's responsibility.

The Nasinu Town Council is encouraging everyone to work together to keep drains clear, maintain a clean environment and reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rain.
