The FMF IDC defending champions are back in training and focused on defending their title after their loss to Rewa in the BOG final.
Assistant Coach Priyant Mannu says the team has given the players some time to recover following the BOG final and preparations are now progressing well.
He says the team has also identified areas that need to be strengthened following the BOG loss, with their game plan being one of the key areas of focus.
Mannu says the team is currently working on the players’ fitness and recovering those carrying injuries to ensure they have the best possible squad going into the IDC.
He says there could be a few changes to the squad that featured in the BOG, with several changes expected as players prepare for the World Cup.
Mannu says the team is also focused on learning from their previous IDC campaign as they look to perform well again this year.
Meanwhile, Team Director and Vice President for Youth Development Amish Patel says says the FMF IDC defending champions are expecting a tougher challenge this year, with the tournament being hosted in the Southern Division.
Patel says Rewa’s pool is strong, with Nasinu, Suva and Labasa all expected to provide a tough challenge.
He is also calling on Rewa fans to support the team at the stadium throughout the tournament.
FMF IDC will be from the 6th to 11th of next month.
