Cracked eggs being used to prepare food, flies around food preparation areas and open rubbish bins placed next to food are among several food safety concerns identified by Consumer Council of Fiji officers during joint inspections with the Nasinu Town Council at stalls at the Vodafone Nasinu Festival.
The Consumer Council of Fiji says inspectors also found improper use of personal protective equipment, while some stalls were operating without the required licences.

The Council is urging people attending the festival to check that stalls are clean and hygienic before buying food or drinks.
It says people should avoid buying from stalls if they have concerns about hygiene or food-handling practices and should raise their concerns with the relevant authorities.
