The first trailer for the hotly-anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released.

The first trailer, which takes place in a retro-futuristic 1960s setting, introduces audiences to Marvel's First Family: Reed Richard/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing, played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, respectively. Unlike 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four movies, First Steps picks up with the foursome after they have gained their respective superpowers, with the Fantastic Four already a recognizable part of this universe.

According to Comic Book Resources, the trailer doesn't reveal too much about the movie's plot, although there are a couple of shots of Ralph Ineson's Galactus, who looks extremely faithful to the comic version.

The trailer also ends with the Fantastic Four standing in their classic white and blue suits, signalling that First Steps will perhaps be the most comic-accurate F4 movie yet.

The trailer also features a glimpse of John Malkovich's mystery character.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be the third and final MCU movie released in 2025, hitting theatres almost three months after Thunderbolts* and five months after Captain America: Brave New World.

With both Thunderbolts* and Captain America set to tell more grounded stories on the sacred timeline, The Fantastic Four will be the only movie released this year to connect to Marvel's ongoing Multiverse arc.

As such, there have been rumours that Robert Downey Jr. will make his debut as Doctor Doom in First Steps, ahead of his major role in the forthcoming Avengers sequels, Doomsday and Secret Wars.
