Three-day training empowers entrepreneurs with practical business skills

Twenty market vendors including 13 women and 7 men have been awarded certificates after completing a three-day Business Training Programme for Suva Market vendors.

The training aimed to equip vendors with essential business skills and encourage growth within the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector.

In his closing remarks, Assistant Minister for Commerce and Business Development Sachida Nand commended the participants for their commitment to learning and self-improvement, emphasizing that their efforts to become better entrepreneurs should be a source of pride.

He highlighted the vital role MSMEs play in Fiji’s economy, describing them not merely as contributors but as the “heartbeat” of economic activity across the country.

Nand says from local markets and urban streets to villages and rural communities, these enterprises continue to create opportunities and drive livelihoods.

Nand noted that while many of the businesses represented may be small in size, their collective impact on the national economy is significant.

He adds market vendors, small business owners, and entrepreneurs all play a crucial role in supporting economic growth and strengthening Fiji’s economic foundation.
