Serevi considers entering politics ahead of next general elections
Fiji rugby legend Waisale Serevi is considering entering politics ahead of the next general elections, revealing that some political parties have approached him for discussions, but he is yet to decide which party to join.

Speaking on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, Serevi says he is thinking about doing something new to help Fiji move forward.

He says there are many youth who need guidance and opportunities, and he would be willing to enter politics if given the chance to make a difference.

When asked which political party he is planning to join, Serevi says he is still weighing his options.

He mentioned Unity Fiji among the parties he has been looking at but stressed that no political party has attracted him enough to make a decision.

Serevi says some parties have approached him for meetings, and he is looking forward to having discussions with them.

He says he remains open to speaking with different political parties before deciding on his next move.

Meanwhile, Serevi says his main concern is the future of Fiji's young people, particularly with the growing problems of drugs and HIV in the country.

He says this was one of the main reasons he returned to Fiji after spending many years overseas.

Serevi says he has been back in the country for about 18 months and has already spoken to around 35,000 to 40,000 young people through schools, churches, villages and rugby clubs.

He says his programmes focus on motivating young people, encouraging them to stay away from drugs and helping them set goals for their future.

Through the Serevi International Academy of Rugby, he is also working with boys and girls aged 15 to 18, using rugby to develop their skills and help them become better people.

Serevi believes everyone has a responsibility to help address the challenges facing young people, including parents, community leaders, sportspeople and those in government.

Serevi warns that if people do not work together to address these problems, the situation could become worse in the next five to ten years.

He also believes Fiji needs more unity, saying people should focus on helping one another and building the country rather than bringing others down, particularly on social media.
