The Fiji U-19 Men’s football team has finished sixth in the OFC U-19 Men’s Championship 2026 after going down 4-0 to Papua New Guinea in their final match.

The Junior Bula Boys had hoped to end the tournament on a positive note but struggled against a strong Papua New Guinea side, which secured fifth place with the victory.

Defender Farhaan Khan says the result is difficult to accept, particularly as the team failed to achieve its goal of qualifying.

Khan says the players gave their all throughout the campaign and thanked the Almighty, his teammates, coaches and supporters back home for their support.

He says the team did not want to finish sixth and has urged supporters to continue praying for the players as they learn from the experience and move forward.

Meanwhile, winger Jay Naidu says fatigue played a part in the team’s performance in the final match.

Naidu says the players tried hard but were tired towards the end of the campaign, which contributed to the disappointing result.

Despite the result, he says he is proud to have represented Fiji and thanked supporters for standing behind the team throughout the tournament.
