Fuel prices to drop significantly from today
Good news as fuel and gas prices will drop from today.

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission says based on the drop in global prices, diesel records the largest reduction between $1.19 and $1.25 per litre across Fiji.

A litre of diesel will cost $3.39 on any area of the island of Viti Levu located within 3 kilometres from any public road.

The prices will vary in other areas.

Unleaded fuel prices will decrease by 49 to 52 cents per litre while kerosene prices will fall by around 42 cents per litre in most parts of the country.

A litre of unleaded fuel will cost $3.44 while a litre of kerosene will cost $2.71.

LPG prices will also decrease, reducing household cooking costs for Fijian families.

A 4.5kg cylinder of gas will cost $22.35 while a 12kg cylinder will cost $59.59 from today.

A kg of bulk gas will be $4.60, while a litre of auto gas will be $3.16.

FCCC Chief Executive Officer Senikavika Jiuta states that FCCC has closely monitored global developments and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East to ensure consumers benefit as international prices ease while maintaining confidence in Fiji's fuel supply.

Jiuta says every reduction in fuel and LPG prices provides welcome relief for families, transport operators and businesses.

She says they know that lower fuel costs can make a real difference to household budgets and operating costs, as consumers may now begin to benefit from improving international market conditions.

These reductions reflect improving global market conditions following progress in ceasefire negotiations and peace discussions in the Middle East, which have eased pressure on international fuel prices after months of volatility.

Although recent developments are encouraging, FCCC cautions that global fuel markets remain vulnerable to geopolitical events and prices may continue to fluctuate as the global energy market recovers.
