Blue Ray and Tebara Supermarket Meat Salove fought back from a goal down to hold Savusavu to a 1-1 draw in an entertaining Super Premier Division match on the second day of the Matuku Spares Vanua Levu Muslim IDC at Subrail Park.
Savusavu made a strong start and took a 1-0 lead into halftime after scoring in the opening spell.
Blue Ray and Tebara Supermarket Salove responded strongly after the break, applying sustained pressure and capitalising on a counter-attack to score the equaliser.
Both teams created chances to snatch the winner, but solid defending and impressive goalkeeping ensured the points were shared.
Speaking to fijivillage Sports after the match, Blue Ray and Tebara Supermarket Salove coach Sabid Ali praised his players for their performance and says the team is now focused on securing a place in the quarter-finals.
Ali says he urged his players to remain disciplined and continue putting pressure on their opponents.
He says his halftime message was simple, to score the equaliser after going into the break trailing by one goal.
Ali also thanked the supporters who travelled from Viti Levu and those who came to Subrail Park to support the tournament.
Meanwhile, defending champions Tasrif Khan Seaqaqa thrashed Korowiri 5-0 in the Super Premier Division, while Batinikama and Basoga played out a goalless draw in the Premier Division.
