Three Major Building applications valued at $28.4 million have been approved by the Department of Town and Country Planning for November while applications approved in October 2020 was $82.6 million.

Local Government Minister, Premila Kumar says the three Major outline Building applications approved for November were the proposed town house development at Denarau Road Nadi by Mangrove Jacks Pte Limited worth $22 million, the proposed hotel development at Vuda Point, Lautoka by Yathi Rajan worth $4.5 million and the proposed industrial warehouse at Kalabu Tax Free Zone Nasinu by Lyndhurst Limited worth $1.9 million.

79 Subdivision and 21 Rezoning applications were also approved.

Kumar says these approvals are a prelude which will follow the final stage of development that would require Building approvals before construction can commence.

The Minister also announced that there were a total of two Major Building applications approved by the Department of Town and Country Planning worth $4.4 million in December.

The two major applications approved were the proposed fuel tank at Vuda Point, Lautoka for Total Fiji worth $3.4 million, the proposed commercial office space at NG Patel Road Nausori for Reddy Diamond Limited worth $1 million.

38 Rezoning applications were approved and 92 Subdivision applications were approved for the month of December 2020.

Kumar says the Department of Town and Country Planning is committed to ensuring that the approvals are granted in a timely manner and that all stakeholders involved in the development process needed to play their part by promoting the principles of Ease of Doing Business in Fiji.

She says with the faster turnaround times at the Department of Town and Country Planning in Suva, the construction projects are not unduly delayed.
