Good news for more than 100 workers at Fiji's first iron ore mining company, Amex Resources Limited as they will be getting their Christmas bonus tomorrow.

This comes as the Construction Energy and Timber Workers Union of Fiji signed a Collective Agreement with Amex Resources Limited today.

CETWUF National Secretary John Paul says as part of the discussions, an agreement was signed in Lautoka today.

He says the Union is grateful that despite some problems which Amex faced in the recent past, they have cooperated with the Union and signed the agreement.

Paul says Amex employs a little more than 100 workers, of which 80 are members of CETWUF.

He says they have also reached an agreement on the improvement of some working conditions for the workers.

Paul says CETWUF and Amex Resources Ltd have agreed to meet in March next year to discuss the workers pay issues.

He says the signing of the Collective Agreement a major achievement for CETWUF in 2024 after many months of discussions with Amex.

Paul hopes other employers will also do the same with the workers representative Unions and give workers what they are entitled to instead of making them run in circles.

He adds this also shows the importance of workers to belong to a Union to promote and protect their rights.
