Jasoda Devi is fighting all odds to support her family of five and the passion that she has for sewing motivated her to start her own business known as Jassu's Tailoring.

Devi says she always had a passion for sewing from a young age and due to her family circumstances she started her business 19 years- ago.

She says her husband is retired and her son's leg was amputated due to diabetes therefore, her only source of income is through her business.

While highlighting her challenges, Devi says she didn't have enough materials and equipment such as a sewing machine and sewing kits when she started her business.

She says she also faced difficulties in paying her rent as there were very less sales.

Devi says now her business is doing well as she earns around $800 a week.

She says sales are also increasing especially during the festive seasons such as Christmas and Easter.

The tailoring entrepreneur who also received a $1000 grant from the Ministry of Trade, Cooperative and SMEs says she will now have a chance to buy more materials and sewing kits and expand her business.

She encourages every woman to work hard, utilise their talents to support their family and help their husband.
