Service volumes by Post Fiji were up by 20% during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has paid tribute to the service of Post Fiji employees who flew into action, crossing containment area borders to deliver packages to families who were staying safely at home during the lockdowns.

He says entrepreneurs relied on the largest distribution network to reach their online customers – helping them weather the most difficult economic chapter in our history.

While speaking at the Post Fiji 150 years sesquicentennial celebrations last night, Bainimarama says you do not need to run a mailroom to realise that the business model of every postal service in the world has been challenged by digital technology.

Bainimarama adds today Post Fiji ranches are open in every town and city in Fiji and their network of delivery extends to the most rural and maritime regions of the country.

He says Post Fiji is a 100 percent Fijian Government-owned commercial entity and they will continue to appoint qualified, meritable personnel to lead the Board and supply strategic direction and investment to further its mission.
