50 farmers will now be able to treat farming as a business after completing a two-day training programme held at Cerumadave Settlement in Naduna, Macuata.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways says the training was successfully completed for members of the Wainikai Farmers' Cooperative earlier this month.

The Ministry says the cooperative had recently received a tractor under the Farm Mechanisation Programme, and the training enabled members to learn about financial literacy and how to approach farming in terms of profitability, sustainability, and resilience.

They say the group plans to use a total of 160 hectares of land for rice, vegetables, pineapples, and cattle farming.

The Farm Management Unit of the ministry's Land Resources and Planning Division has been conducting similar training sessions across Fiji to equip farmers with the knowledge needed to manage farming as a business.
