$13.9 billion projected for future economic growth in Fiji

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says $13.9 billion worth of investment leads has been estimated to be realized in the next few years pertaining to Fiji's economic growth story.

Acknowledging the continuous hardwork of business owners and operators at the Prime Minister's International Business Awards in Nadi, Rabuka highlighted that Fiji's economic growth story continues this year.

He says there has a been remarkable resurgence by 20 percent in 2022, surpassing the earlier estimates of 18.6 percent by the Macroeconomic Committee.

Rabuka says this remarkable growth was mainly driven by the robust revival of tourism.

He adds the latest update from the Reserve Bank of Fiji that projected the latest growth for this year to be 8.2 percent, a 0.2 percent increase from the previous official estimate.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the critical role played by private enterprises in the collective effort to build a more vibrant and diversified economy.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica says the Awards provide a platform for businesses to benchmark performance and service excellence, inspire innovation, support job creation, and above all boost employee morale in achieving more.

Kamikamica reiterates that the Government firmly believes that every business regardless of its size has the potential to contribute to our national growth and become leaders in their respective industries.

He says as remarkable businesses, they have aspired to punch above the weight in every aspect of their venture, and invites them to continue inspiring and motivating other businesses to propel themselves towards excellence.

Meanwhile, the national airline, Fiji Airways scooped three major awards at the 2023 Prime Minister's International Business Awards.

Fiji Airways CEO and Managing Director Andre Viljoen won the Executive of the Year Award, while they also won the Business of the Year Award and the Service Excellence Award.
