Graham Leung is the new President of the Fiji Law Society.
He served as Attorney-General of Fiji from 5th June 2024 to 1st June 2025 and has previously served as President of the Fiji Law Society.
Earlier in his career, he was managing partner at Howards, a commercial law firm in Suva, and served as
Chairman of the Electoral Commission.
He was an inaugural member of the newly established Human Rights Commission.
He was also appointed Judge Advocate of a Court Martial involving soldiers convicted in connection with the 2000 Fiji coup, a role he accepted because of his strong commitment to the rule of law and justice.
Leung's professional career has extended beyond Fiji, including appointments and legal advisory roles in the Solomon Islands, Nauru and the Cook Islands, as well as work supporting constitutional development and human rights across the region.
The incoming council includes Seruwaia Nayacalevu (Shekinah Law) as Vice President, Saddiq Akif Koya (Howards), Mele Rakai (Sherani & Co), Virisila Qolisaya Alexandra Lidise (Ezer Law Chambers), Peter Ragkea Rigamoto (Digicel), Arthi Swamy (Patel & Sharma Lawyers) and Jovilisi Liganivai (Munro Leys).
This year’s Law Society Annual Convention is scheduled for 30th to 31st October 2026 at the
Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort Nadi.
Leung says he is grateful for the trust placed in him by members of the Society and for the opportunity to once again serve the legal profession.
He says Fiji is at a crossroads - the country is facing many challenges including a national HIV crisis, the scourge of drugs as well as youth unemployment.
Leung says we are on the cusp of general elections and in the middle of a complex constitutional review
process, and against the backdrop of a volatile social and political environment, the legal profession
faces many challenges.
He says the Law Society will have to navigate through the complexities and many issues confronting the nation.
Leung's under his leadership, the Law Society will continue to adhere to its apolitical position and
perform its duties strictly from a legal perspective.
He pledges to the best of his abilities his unwavering commitment to the core values and principles
to uphold the rule of law and democratic governance.
He also recognises the need to build a unified profession which has in more recent times, lacked the
collegiality which was once their hallmark.
Leung also extends his deep appreciation to the immediate Past President, Wylie Clarke for having laid a solid foundation for him to continue his work.
