Ba crowned BOG champions after 8 years, edging Rewa 2-1

Hosts Dayal’s Steel Ba have been crowned the Extra Battle of the Giants champions after 8 years, edging Stratum/PPCL Rewa 2-1 in the final at 4R Stadium, Govind Park, Ba.

Former Ba captain Praneel Naidu was among the scorers for the Men in Black, while Penisoni Tirau, a former Coca-Cola Games long jump gold medallist, also found the back of the net for Ba.

Naidu was also named the Player of the Match.

Rewa fought back in the second half when substitute Merrill Nand scored to give the Delta side hope, despite being down to 10 players.

Ba has been awarded $17,000 in prize money.

This is Ba’s third major title of the year, following their Extra Premier League and BiC Fiji FACT victories.

The final whistle sparked wild celebrations among the Ba players and supporters, with the packed crowd erupting as the hosts were crowned champions.

A total of 9,769 people came out to witness the final.

All teams will now turn their focus to the Inter-District Championship.
