The Fiji Navy says RFNS Timo was retasked to carry out the medical evacuation while on a national government tasking.
The crew retrieved the child and the woman following a request from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, as both required urgent medical attention.
The Navy has also been working closely with the Ministry of Health in recent weeks to assist people from the outer islands who require urgent medical attention.
