Police had earlier confirmed to fijivillage News that a report has been lodged at the Namaka Police Station and an investigation is underway.
More than 300 people claim they paid $100 each after being promised overseas employment opportunities, with some expecting to travel to Australia.
They say over 50 people reportedly turned up at the Nadi International Airport last Saturday expecting to travel overseas but later discovered that there were no flight bookings for them.
Some of those affected had reportedly resigned from their jobs in preparation for the promised overseas employment.
The Ministry of Employment is urging those affected to lodge reports with Police and stresses that workers are not required to pay recruitment fees to participate in Government-facilitated overseas employment programmes.
