The Junior Bula Boys have made a flying start to their campaign after producing a dominant second-half performance to beat Vanuatu 7-2.
The two sides were locked 1-all at halftime after an evenly contested opening 45 minutes, before Fiji came alive in the second half and took control of the match.
Abudullah Khairati, Jovesa Uqe, Ibraheem Afzal, Ryan Naresh and Nicholas Franklin were among the goal scorers for Fiji.
Franklin put the finishing touch on Fiji’s impressive performance by scoring the final goal and was also named Player of the Match.
The result gives coach Marika Rodu and his Junior Bula Boys the perfect start to their campaign, with their second-half performance particularly impressive after Vanuatu had matched them in the first half.
Attention now turns to a much bigger test, with Fiji taking on New Zealand this Saturday at 4pm.
The stakes are high in the tournament, with the winner and runner-up qualifying for the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2027 in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
