Two-year-old Rajveer Chand won first place in Category 4 of the Hibiscus Baby Show held at the Suva Civic Centre today.
A last-minute decision to enter her firstborn in the show ended in a proud moment for Sanjeshni Sangeeta Kumar and her family.
Chand won first place in Category 4, which was open to children aged between one and three years.
Kumar, who lives in Nadawa, says she only saw an advertisement for the Baby Show on facebook yesterday before deciding to give it a try.
She says she and her husband decided to bring Rajveer along, little knowing that he would return home as a winner.
She says her aunt would often win, making her an inspiration and encouraging her to take part with her own children.
Kumar says the win was particularly special for her family as Rajveer was born after seven years of marriage and is a much-loved and cherished child.
Kumar is now a mother of two, with her second child only two weeks old.
She says her husband has also played an important role in caring for Rajveer, particularly after she underwent Caesarean sections for both of her children.
