New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Murray McCully said NGOs and opposition parties that continue to criticize NZ for assisting the Fijian government to move forward and have elections should ask themselves whether the continuous criticisms are helping anyone.
While speaking to Fijivillage, McCully stressed that the NZ government has decided that the best way forward is to assist Fiji in the preparations for the general election on September 17th.
He said there has been so much progress already and this needs to be acknowledged.
McCully said the progress that he has noticed since January this year include Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama stepping down from the Army Commander’s post, Bainimarama following the process as any other party to register his proposed party, the appointment of the Supervisor of Elections and the publishing of the Electoral Decree.
