The issue of land being taken away from the land owners has been used by politicians and has led to the events of 1987 and 2000.

Those were the words of Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama while speaking to the people of Serua during their provincial council meeting.

Commodore Bainimarama said itaukei land is secure and politicians are just misleading the people for their own gain.

He also highlighted that as we mark 13 years of the November 2000 mutiny this Saturday, Commodore Bainimarama stressed that the itaukei people need to change their attitude and mindset as he will never allow anyone to return to the events of 1987 and 2000.

Commodore Bainimarama said people should be careful about who they choose in the general elections next year.

He also said he will form his political party after all development projects have taken place around the country.

Meanwhile, the Vunivalu of Serua Ratu Peni Latianara questioned Commodore Bainimarama on the developments of his political party.

The Prime Minister said he wants to form a multiracial party which welcomes any race who can serve the people well.

Ratu Latianara said Commodore Baninimarama has the full support of the people of Serua.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that he has received a lot of interest from other people intending to join his party.

He revealed that the government will allocate more than $468,000 to the Serua Province next year for the upgrading of 11 roads.

Other areas include the protection of mineral resources and the establishment of a committee to oversee developments.

The government allocated $800,000 to the Serua province for development works this year.
