Municipalities around the country have been instructed to improve their turnaround time and service delivery to the public.
The Director for the Ministry of Local Government, Urban Development Josese Rakuita said that they have received complaints against some municipalities.
He said most complaints are made to the council however the Ministry has so far received only 11 that have already been forwarded to the council for action but has not been responded to.
He said the most common complaints are on rates and drainage problems.
Rakuita said people are disgruntled their applications for the waiver of rates accumulated over the years were not responded to by the municipality and blocked drains that often led to localized flooding and unbearable stench were not attended to despite several complaints lodged with the municipality.
He said the ministry had directed councils to deal with the issues and to respond accordingly within a certain time frame.
Meanwhile, Rakuita added that some council’s are effectively responding to complaints from the public which is why less complaints have been received against some councils.
