Fiji will have a truly democratic electoral system before the country goes to the polls and none of the NGOs, political parties and overseas countries can stop that with any ultimatums, according to interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama.
Bainimarama said people who are worried about their funding and are hungry for power and are continuing to push Fiji to have elections under a race based system, which will not solve any of the country's long standing problems.
The interim Prime Minister questions what former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase is trying to do by writing to the forum leaders asking for tough action to be taken against Fiji.
Meanwhile, Qarase said he had every right to inform the Forum leaders about Fiji's situation.
Qarase also denied that he asked for military intervention from Australia and New Zealand in 2006.
The Fiji Women’s Rights Movement said the country is going through many problems and choosing a democratic government through elections now is the only solution to the problems.
Executive Director Virisila Buadromo said they know that there are problems in the current electoral system however it can only be changed by an elected government.
