The Health Ministry has today confirmed that Fiji has its first case of Influenza A H1N1.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Permanent Secretary Dr Sala Saketa said the case was recorded in Nadi.
Meanwhile Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma said they are fully prepared to handle any cases.
Health officials are once again called on the public to exercise care and due to consideration for others should someone has flu-like illness. Members of the public should seek immediate medical attention once they develop influenza like symptoms.
In addition they are putting all doctors and staff in hospitals and health centres on alert to update them on the outbreak of Influenza A H1N1 and to advise them to be vigilant and take the necessary precautions in line with the alert status.
