16-year-old Lavenia Vatanitawake is praying that her parents in Yasawa-i-Rara will join her in Lautoka for Christmas celebrations.
Vatanitawake told Fijivillage today she last spoke to her dad Asaeli Vatanitawake on Sunday before Cyclone Evan hit Yasawa and since then there has been no communication between them.
Lavenia prays for her family’s safety and believes that they will be reunited again in Lautoka on Christmas.
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for Health Dr Eloni Tora confirmed that he managed to speak to the nurse in Yasawa-i-rara on radio telephone last night where the nursing station was partially damaged.
District officer Lautoka Ruth Atu said that a team leaves for the Yasawas today for an aerial view and to assess the damages left behind by Evan.
